I’m a sucker for acoustic performances. Medium Build’s YouTube page delivers in this regard (going back to 7 years ago). There is a fullness attained, even though it’s just a voice and a guitar. But that simple set up is effective enough, thanks to his emotive expression and sad boy style. Storytelling is easy business for this guy, and I appreciate the unique tangibles he uses in his songs, breathing life into the characters (himself included) as their relationships are analyzed and presented. He puts places, people, objects in his lyrics that transport the listener right into his world. He builds mini-dramas - 3 minute capsules of real life. I love it. Who else can put The Princess Bride and Croc charms into song and pull it off?
