People are accepting a little more twang these days. Listeners have been woo’d by the croon of a few mainstream artists like Luke Combs, or Morgan Wallen. But take one step back a little, into the gentle woods, and here in lies a village.
Tyler Childers writes impeccable ditties. Poetically, he lifts the light onto this honest romantic character’s most moral plights. Our hero of each song, fighting some kind of battle with love, or lesson, or temptation.
“Well my buckle makes impressions
On the inside of her thigh
There are little feathered Indians
Where we tussled through the night
If I'd known she was religious
Then I wouldn't have came stoned
To the house of such an angel
Too fucked up to get back home"
from rolling stone
His library of songs is a hot bed for new imagery, mixing Appalachia culture with youthful attitudes. “Where we gonna go when the dam breaks loose and the white line fever gets a hold of you? How we gonna make it to higher ground if you won’t get up and leave".
Nobody has a voice like Tyler - moaning and punctual. He begs of people, and you know it’s from his own hard earned lessons learned, to be good. I find his writing really visual and transportive. Like you can see the room, and feel the desire.

Just as good live as on the recordings.
